Privacy Policy

UnilagĀ is committed to preserving the privacy of alumni and friends.
This site has password-protected, secure areas that enable alumni and friends to
connect with each other. Services included are the Alumni Directory, registration
for Alumni Email, My Profile for updating and submitting contact and other information,
E-mail lists, Message Boards and Chat, the Unilag Career Network, and the Unilag
Volunteer Clearinghouse.

The Alumni Directory promotes finding and connecting with other Unilag alumni, yet
offers the ability for all alumni to suppress publication of their data on a field-by-field
basis except for first and last name.

Your personal information may be used to provide you with information about Unilag
Alumni Association activities and may be shared with other Unilag offices and departments
for University-related activities. Additionally, Unilag has a small number of affinity
partners, such as banks and insurance companies, which offer special promotions
for Unilag students and alums. We carefully screen these partners and believe that
they provide value to the Unilag community. From time-to-time the University may
share your information with these business partners in order that they may offer
you their services or products. Except as described in this policy, the information
on this site will not be used for commercial or philanthropic purpose.

When an alum or friend subscribes to an e-mail list or provides an e-mail address
for other purposes, his or her e-mail address is recorded. That address is used
for sending out future mailings via e-mail. That address may also be used for general
Unilag announcements.

Unilag does not view or access any content from your Alumni Email account unless
explicitly requested to do so by the account owner to provide technical assistance,
or in response to a compulsory legal process mandate.

Alumni Email, powered by Google, will provide strong security and privacy protections.
Google has provided contractual guarantees that allow users the ability to use the
services with the appropriate privacy protections. Google is contractually obligated
to protect your confidential information and not to release it to other parties,
absent compulsory legal process. You can view more about their specific privacy
protections here: http://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy.

In order to provide essential core features for Unilag Alumni Email, Google runs
completely automated scanning and indexing processes to offer spam filtering, anti-virus
protection and malware detection. Their systems also scan content to make sure Apps
work better for users, enabling functionality like search in Gmail or Google Docs.
This is completely automated and involves no humans.

Cookies are used on the Alumni Association website to enhance the experience of
the visitor.
